Ages 8-18
$10.00 per child (Concessions available for $1.00)

This workshop for youth ages 8-18 is an introduction to Acrylic painting. The class will give attendees a basic knowledge of equipment needed to create a painting (brushes, canvas and paint). Students will learn about the parts of a brush, the different types of brushes, and the techniques used to create the shapes each brush is designed to make. Students will then be given the opportunity to practice making unique shapes using the various brush types. We will review the color palette and practice mixing paints to create new colors. Finally, we will break into small groups and each student will be issued their own canvas. A basic design will be provided that students can use to create a work of art they can bring home! Students are welcome to create a unique piece of art based on their own design.

Space is limited to 20 attendees, so register early! To register, please contact us at actingoutkids@yahoo.com.

COLLECTING ITEMS FOR CHARITY

Every month, we will be collecting items to donate to the Clawson Food Pantry and to the local animal shelters and rescues.  We will also collect items to donate to other local charities (South Oakland Shelter, homebound senior citizens, etc.). We will have collection boxes at all of our drop-in events.  Kids are always welcome to donate items whenever they like, but it is never required.

If anyone would like to donate nonperishable food items or toiletries for the Clawson Food Pantry or dog or cat food, dog or cat toys, bedding, old sheets, towels or blankets, cat litter, newspapers, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc. for the animals, please feel free to bring in any of the above items to any of the Friday night drop-in events. We will be collecting items for the Clawson Food Pantry and for the animal shelters on an ongoing basis, so please feel free to donate as often as you would like!

If your child can’t make it to any of the drop-in events, but would still like to donate an item, we have collection boxes located at Clawson City Hall and at the Hunter Community Center in Clawson.  Please feel free to leave items in our collection boxes (you can leave both animal items and other items in the same collection box).
